Which "sensor" in front of the intake on the 86/87 is the one that controlls the fan turn on/off? I looked at the brakedown on gnttype.org but can't make it out clearly. How many sensors are supposed to be in that area for coolant temp? Looks like 3 but the brakedown only showed 2. I have a bare intake that I am putting back together.

On the driver's side there are two. One sticking out the front of the manifold with a TWO wire sensor is the coolant temp sensor for the ECM (controls fans, etc.). Then there's the one sticking out of the top of the manifold water passage with ONE wire. This is the high temp turn on switch for the high speed mode when coolant temps get over 200+.

And there's another one on the passenger side sticking out the front of the water passage with ONE wire. That's the one for the idiot light.

So what my scanmaster reads is coming from the first one you mentioned with the 2 wires, correct?
