Since Mark Jackson is no longer making his versions of the stretched intercooler and the CAS V4 is available (somewhat) has anyone actually used a V4 to go 10.50's-10.70's with a mild combo like we have with the Jackson intercoolers? I see a lot of talk about the V4's, but on 11-12 second cars only.............does anyone use one to go faster than 10.90 or have any direct comparisons?

Thanks, Tim

Tim, last time I talked to Tony DeQuick of CAS he told me that Chris Lyons has been 10.60's @126+mph with the 19/21 row V4 intercooler and he also told me there are a couple of guys using the 27 row V4R intercoolers into the low 10's and there was a guy selling a Stage II GN in the cars for sale section a while back that went 9.80's @134mph with the V4R.... From what I've been told Tony uses the newest and best core technology in all of his intercoolers so I'd venture to say the V4 is better than the MJ intercoolers!!!
HTH:)

Yes, I have "heard" the same things but want to hear from someone that is actually doing it and find out what other parts they used. Just saying the intercooler has been 10.60's on a car doesn't mean anything if that car has enough other parts to go 10.20's with a different intercooler. Red Armstrong's wifes car has now gone 10.0's with an old 17 row intercooler, so the CAS cores can't be much better, if any. If it were, Red would have it on that car.

Well if you are comparing how fast someone has been with a stock long block with a V4 compared to how fast you've been with the MJ 17 row IC also with a stock long block I think you have everybody beat.... I know Mike Price went 10.92 @122mph with a stock long block and his combo was a PT54 turbo, 50's, V4, JJ 62mm TB, and a 9.5" Precision LU converter and I'm pretty sure Hank Terry has also been 10.90's @122+mph with a stock long block (TE60, V4, 55's, etc.).... if you are looking for somebody that has gone faster than you with a stock long block (similar combo) with the V4 I doubt you will find anybody!!! BTW, Red doesn't use a lot of things that are better (he tends to use what he sells) and going 10.0's with a 17 row MJ doesn't impress me at all cause there was a guy down here that Red knows real well that went 10.0's with a stock IC w/ a cool box and this was also a stock block (Jane's car has a Stage 1 block last time I heard).... FYI, if Red doesn't use it, it can't be any better:rolleyes:

I dunno where you want to draw the line, but my car has been 125 and lots of "corrected" 10.8x times.....at 24 lbs boost and 1490 egt......has lots more in it, but not keen on breaking it.....we have another local car that ran 10.8 at 127 with a V4 and the car was running like crap (not because of the I/C)

so I say a decent car at sea level and good air should run easy 10.5's or better....in fact, the same car that ran 10.8 here ran 10.50's at Bowling Green...it is Champion headed, PT-72, TH headers, FAST sytem, full weight stock block

you can talk to Nick if you need more info

the previous post belongs to me...I am using a friend's computer and was logged in under his name.....

Thanks AZGN............that's exactly the type of responses I was hoping for. I am just concerned that a V4 will not perform as well as other similar intercoolers on a build up like a stock block, ported iron head, TA/66 turbo, 55# injector, hydraulic roller, ect.............I would like to see 10.50's being as stock appearing as possible and the V4 is my last part "in question".
