Hello everyone,

I am trying my hand at tunning the engine on my '85 Regal coupe (3.8L, 231 V6).

I want to adjust the fast idle on the Rochester DualJet Carb and don't understand what the following term means from the tech manual.

"Place the cam follower on the high step of the fast idle cam"

how does one tell what step it's on.

TIA.

It has to be done first thing in the morning and you'll need a tach gauge.

Start by removing the air cleaner assembly. Next prime the carb. (This is achieved by opening up the throttle by pulling the throttle linkage all the way back. This causes the primary butterfly to snap shut and places the cam follower on the high step of the fast idle cam).

Now attach the tach gauge and the then start the engine. The tach should read anywere between 1500-1800 RPM's. :)
