i stepped up to 75# injectors and getting ecm modded now and might be back in action this week sometime..

i did a search on 340 but nobody really said at what point the 340 has actually not kept up..

i know what people put on paper but in the real world will it keep up with 75# injectors ???

i'll be finding out soon enough but was wondering if any of you have actually gotten to the point that it starts lossing pressure from not being able to keep up..??

i want to go back to the track soon and see how it mph's with fuel going in it and 02's not down in the low 600's.

so will the single 340 go 130 trap speed?

Jack used a 307 with a Fel-Pro to go 10.70's but no way in the 9's. He runs an Aeromotive external now.

Red's,

A single 340 has a hard time keeping up fueling 50-55's at full song. You need a double or external to run 75's properly. Good luck!

Not to get off the subject. But how good would a RA XP Plus pump work? What is the limit in injectors?

Sorry red, for diverting your thread.

I'd be surprised if it went 130, but someone else can try it and see, not me ;-)

i was hoping someone else had already done it

I'm running 10.80's 126.00 single 340, 72 inj. with fast (felpro), 27pds boost. I'm also looking into Racetronics duel system just to be safe.

Short answer: maybe

If you plot the characteristic curve of the pump (supply) and the curve of the injectors (demand) on the same plot, you'll have your answer (it's on the gnttype website). The bad news first: the pump won't keep up at 100% inj duty cycle and 12 volts at the pump, you can have ~28 psi max base fuel pressure and that's it. The good news: it "might" work if you run less than 100% DC or have 15v at the pump. At 100% DC, 25 psi boost, and 15v, you can run ~38-40 psi max base fuel pressure. At that point you'll have about 72 gph of fuel, good for ~725-775 hp.

Note: 15 volt pump data is not abundant. All I have is Red's XP-plus data (which I hope is more than just one test) and data from a single test I ran myself. HTH

If you check out PTE's website www.precisionte.com they said that in their testing the Walbro 340 fuel pump has supported 750hp which in a full weight TR would = low 10's @ about 130mph so I think it can be done, but if you wanted to be on the safe side some staged double pumpers or an external pump would be the only way to go!

Now was this testing done through the bendy stock fuel lines in their shop? I doubt it so why chance it.

Their testing was done with a -6 braided line.
It is a bigger and less "bendy", so it is not a real
world example of what to expect in the car.
I would take about 25% off their number to be safe.

I agree with Intercooler, cause all the TRs I've seen or heard of going mid 10's or faster had either a double pumper or an external pump and it's always better to be on the safe side IMO!:)
BTW, if you wanted to run a single pump wouldn't you be better off with a Weldon 2015 cause according to PTE this pump supplies enough fuel for 1200hp @ 80psi, although, they probably aren't using the stock bendy fuel lines when they tested this one either???

i will be going external with fuel cell but was wondering how hard i could push it before i get around to doing the cell pump and line change..

i guess once i go i'll dig this thread up and say how far it would go.

Although by accident,I was told that Gary harmon went in the 9s(S2 offcenter 274 ci) with a single 340 when one in the double pumper set up failed. He didnt know until he looked at the data log and saw the O2 correction maxed out and the WB O2 numbers lean. The 160s helped keep the car motor alive.;)
