I don't know if this has beaten to death, but paper work on my x show in 1990 a "FBI" chip was installed by Texas turbo

Today I look and here it is
Any info on the chip?
It does appear to run more aggressive with the chip installed

Any info ?

I was told a few weeks ago that the FBI (police) did have some g n's with those chips I think he told me he seen one in the DC area one time supposed to have a little more boost and not cut of at certain speeds I will try to find the guy on the board that told me and send to ya

Saint Bernie is his board name and he has had 2 g n x ' s also and has 3 low mile cars now g n , limited. And a t type he mite have some info if that helps

Odds are the vehicle speed limiter is set high (255/254 MPH). Good possibility, as mentioned, that the boost is set a little higher too.

A simple scan could tell you all you need to know about that chip. About 2 seconds in the EPROM burner and look at the file.

I had a customer that worked for the FBI, bought one of the fleet cars back in about 1992, send me his chip. It was a stock PROM ACXA code.

I'd put as much stock in that chip saying 'FBI' being something special as I would a camshaft that says '3/4" on it being something special.

Well im sure there nothing FBI to that chip, it was just named FBI.
I know there's been mention of a FBI chip but never heard anything about them

Any input ?

Maybe not worth much but different not everyone has one but if ya get the info on it it is a cool show and tell piece

Where do you live? If you can get the chip to me, I can download the code into my PC and compare it to the stock 1987 chip code. Then I can tell you exactly what's different.

I'm near Chicago. You're welcome to send the chip to me if you want. PM me if interested. If not, there may be somebody closer to you who can download the code from the chip.

+1 Handwritten "FBI" I seriously doubt it's anything close to legit. Besides, this "FBI Chip" never did exist.

Look I'm not saying its some super chip
But the date from 89 and the invoice

What kinda of info will be stored on the chip ?

All of the calibration values like spark timing, target fuel-air ratios, boost solenoid control, etc. Also things like rev limit and mph limit.

It's not going to say anything about who changed it or why. It's not going to say "FBI calibration" or anything like that.

By looking at the information, one can tell what is different from the stock chip. One would not be able to determine anything as to why it was changed, or by who.

Holy crap. $140 for a chip?!?!?? In 1989??? Don't let Eric and Bob see this, they may sanction a price increase.
