fender emblem placement

I just saw an 85 GN on ebay and I noticed that the "grand national" fender emblem was located below the rub strip. I know on my 84 that it is just above the rub strip. I've never really thought about it but was this emblem placed in different places for the different years?

Nope. Should be the same for 84-87. Chances are, it has been repainted....obviously by someone who knows little about these cars!
