This is in regards to my old 65 Fairlane which is in need of a new tank. I have not been able to find new one for her. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I thought about gettig a used one but fear havig the same problems I have now (a milion pinholes and I don't know where I can get it fixed.)
I did find Crites Fairlane pats and he has a reproduction tank for $250 but it is fiberglass. Someone make me feel a littlemore atease about putting a 'glass tank in the old gal, is it safe? will drive the car on the street once in a while.
Thanks for the help in advance.;)

Personally I would think that it wouldn't be as safe. Easier to gouge, crack, etc. Could be wrong though.

Have you considered a kit like eastwood's gas tank sealer kit? I believe that these are supposed to seal small (pinhole) leaks as well as removing and preventing rust.

I didn't even thnk of Eastwod but I will definitely look into it.
Anyone lse have any suggestions?
Thanks Jade!

I would think fiberglass would be dangerous from a crash-safety point of view because 'glass is brittle and would shatter or crack easily.

What about going to a fuel cell?

Also, try these guys:

They make OEM replacement and custom tanks for street rods. Expensive, but nice stuff.
