Fiberglass trunk fitment

I bought a trunk lid from Kirbans. It fits like garbage. When bolted on it overlaps the fender on one side and theres about a 1/2" gap on the other side. The springs/rods are also way to strong for the glass unit. What are you guys doing to make these fit and work?

I also got a hood from them which fits better but also had problems on the passenger side. On the rear mount/hinge the hood hit and had to be trimmed as well as teh hinge itself. The holes in the hinge had to be elongated on the fender side and shimmed on the hood side. It still does not line up as far as level height goes with the fenders. Anyone else have these problems?

I think Token fiberglass is the way to go for sure but they are in canada and im having alot of trouble contacting them.

Welcome to the world of fiberglass aftermarket parts. Grab some sandpaper, some filler, and a spreader and go at it. Unless a place guarantees correct fitment you can count on some body work. I'd bet the molds have produced their share and then some.

I also wonder if his son makes his, his son is a great fiberglass man.

My Glasstek hood and trunk needed special attention. My trunk started to separate from the hold down bolts and I needed a local high end restoration shop to make me an inner bracket to keep the trunk level again.

Not many have a fiberglass trunk so very few respond to these issues.
