Finally back on here after a long hiatus

I gave my GN away back in 2009 or 10 and haven't been on this site in a loooong time. I was finally able to get my new email account synced with my old TB username/account, thanks to JayC, so I can look around and be a part of the Turbo Buick community again. Unfortunately it seems these cars have gotten to a point that I'll probably never have another one, but hopefully that might change someday. In the meantime I'll be driving a G8 GT on nice weather days. Just wanted to drop in and see how many names I recognize after all these years.

These forums are a dying breed. Fakebook is what most of the people seem to use today but personally I find it aggravating to use. You seem to never be able to find the same thing twice and a lot of the "experts" there are anything but. Many of them are rude and some even intentionally give bad advice. I find these forums infinitely more usable and on this one at least, most of the guys seem to be good dudes who genuinely like to help. Not many of the "Do a search" types here (CTS-V Owners is full of those over there). TR's are a niche market with not as many around as they used to be and a lot of people now are putting them up instead of putting them on the road so even if you don't own a TR at the moment, you will be welcomed here. Shane needs as much traffic as he can get here to help keep this place afloat and the top TR site on the web. Plus, more activity brings more activity and so on. I know the ads are horrible now but to keep the site free, traffic brings the ads and ads bring the revenue to keep this place alive.


BTW: I would love to have a G8 GT or GXP but dang they must be made out of gold these days but then again, all used car prices are ridiculous these days.

Welcome back! Facebook seems to have taken a lot of traffic away from here but like corsair said you can never find stuff on FB again. Too bad so much useful info was lost when they had the crash here a while ago.

Yea, its unfortunate the guy we were paying for hosting lied about doing backups. Shane was going to sue him but the guy has nothing we found as we dug into it more so it would be a waste of time. Only source of income the guy has is a hot dog cart or some shit.

I actually have a full backup of the board with all the attachments and everything but its for vBulletin. I had been working with a guy for a couple of years trying to get all the attachments reintegrated and I think he just gave up. He told me at one point he was close and then the next time I talked to him, it sounded less promising. I haven't reached out to him in a while.

I can add a real time chat feature here. I had talked about doing that a few times but no one seemed really interested. Its about as close to Facebook as we can get and I do agree that while Facebook is cool for a lot of stuff, stuff like this, it is not.
