I finally got to try my 70GTQ today. I had previously been using a TE45A P-trim. One small adjustment on translator box and it was ready. That thing pulls hard but I only went to 20#'s being that I have a single pump. I cant wait to see how it does at 25-27#'s. I am only running a 3500 stall and dont feel that I need anymore. I can stage mine just fine like it is on foot brake. I just dont know how long my transmission is going to hold up.....

Butt dyno doesn't count though...........

Im sure I will be running it when I get my other pump in. I plan to purchase a set of GN1's at a later date, that is why I went ahead and bought this 70GTQ and didnt go 70P-Trim. My old TE45A .63 wasnt good until 32-35 but it was a small inlet and small discharge so I know it was creating some heat. It was more of an 1/8 mile turbo.

sorry..

just a little sick of the BS floating around on the GTQ...having been there, done that, you have a lot of upgrades to do before you will gain anything over the '45A...particularly if you weren't running high 10's with the '45A

build up to it and you'll smile:)

I ran in the tens with the 45A, but I do not want to run alot of boost, I plan on buying some GN1's...didnt really wanna have to buy a 70p-trim then have to sell it and buy the 70GTQ later to attain my goal that I have for the car.

The gn1-s better have FULL porting or you wont pick up anything!

I will have Bennett Racing port the heads, they are the best around in this area.

I am running 8:1 J.E's....can these GN1's be milled down to yield me the 9:1 that I need?

I wouldnt recomend milling the heads period. You will have enough problems keeping them sealed. If anything go with thin gasket to raise the CR.

heads

I too have a set of GN1s that have been ported by bennett racing and they do look great on the work that they have done. I bought them from a guy in huntsville,al. I wished i had the flow numbers on them.

I was thinking about putting the lock wire in the head and using stock head gaskets. What do you think about doing that?

What gasket are you refering to Chevy II? Who makes it?

Yes my heads were ported when I ran my ten second passes. Current combo is a 218/218 front mount 75's 70gtq, 3500 stall

Im talking about making the deck on the heads thinner. Aluminum heads with 8 bolts is hard enough to seal.
