Car fax will show you when the vehicle was titled each time it was sold, I dodn't think it will give you a name, but from there you will know which state and the date it was titled from each time it changed hands....then you can contact each state's DMV and find out.
When I got my TTA, the guy gave me all of the original papers, so I got the original purchasers name and City/St from that paper work...looked them up in the on-line yellow pages and called the guy to find out if everything was legit and why he sold it in the first place. The guy was real nice and was glad the car made it to a good home....hesold it because he moved out in the counrty and had a 2 mile dirt road to drive down to get from his house and didn't want to drive the car anymore and get it dirty just to leave the house.
