I need a flex plate for a 4.1 V6 (252) engine. The engine is from a 80-84 Riviera front wheel drive.
Can anybody refer me to a dealer where I can order it?

Thanks

Frans

Yep, thats going to be the correct one for a Riviera. Damn thats cheap for a new part. If that doesn't pan out for you PM me or email efisher@billheard.com .I might have a nice used one for a little cheaper or have a source for a new, more expensive GM part.

No.
3.8 & 4.1 have different flexplates and if its FWD it adds to the differences.
Who woulda thought
I looked to double check applications because I have a really nice 4.1 RWD flexplate laying around that I would have sold him. He needs the right part 1st and cant afford to "see if it works" having the engine in S. Africa.

But i would imagine if the 4.1 block was used in a turbo application ( turbo crank, balancer and flywheel-plus pistons-same weight as 6109 s) -the 3.8 flywheel might be usable?

Thanks for the response, fellas.
Wow, now I am confused. I always thought it was a 160 teeth plate, but now I learn it must be a 162 teeth?
Did all the 4.1 engines use a 162 teeth plate, or was it only the fwd automatics?

Eric, thanks for your offer. I will send you an email.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your inputs.

The balancer is different too besides the interuptor rings. Pistons in a 4.1 would be heavier. Hence the different flexplate and balancer.

Frans:
as far as 162 tooth The FWD Riviera uses a different starter.
You are using the starter from the Riviera right? It looks different from the RWD ones.
But if you are using the RWD starter you can use the 4.1 RWD flexplate.
If you need more help or are still a bit confused, let me know.

I will not use a Riviera starter. The only starter that I have is a Delco from a Chevy 4.1 straight 6 engine. It fits on the Buick V6 block.
I am using a Chevy TH 350 transmission with adapter plate.
So, I assume the 160 tooth flex plate will be the correct one (if it works with the Chevy starter).
Thanks

OK
Glad to hear you sorted it out.
Let us know how it works for you.
P.S. I have a 4.1 flexplate in nice shape laying around if you need it.

I am waiting for a quotation. If it does'nt work out, I will drop you a line.

Thanks. I appreciate.

I am struggling since February 2006 to get a 4.1 flexplate. I had a very generous offer- free flexplate- only send $35 for postage. I have send a money order over, but still waiting for my flexplate.

Is there anybody out there who has a 160 teeth flexplate who will be willing to send it to South Africa??? (I'll be using Paypal.)

Thanks

Frans

i still have the one i offered....let me see how many teeth it has.

Thanks,
Can you please give me a price that includes shipping to South Africa?
