Flu or Virusis this year?

Guys and Gals,

I am not sure what is going on with me but I had a really bad ear infection in the beginning of this year.

So last week I get what I think is pink eye but with a fever.
I am given drops and they do nothing.
My fever gets worse and I start getting terrible body aches.
So I go back to the dr and he sends me to an eye dr to make sure they are ok. She mentions that I have swollen lymph node and that what have is viral.
Over the week end the body aches are so bad that I can not sit or lay still.
However what really concerns me is the temperature that got up to 103*.
The Temp is so bad I am having nightmares when I actually can get to sleep and I will wake up shivering in a pool of sweat. At least my eye problem has spread to the other eye, I have that going for me now... Anyway I had to vent because I am going to the dr for the 4th time in a week and I feel worse than the first time... Even worse than being sick is not being able to play with my son for almost a week....

i am going thru the ear infection thing right now, on my second round of antibiotics, had it over a dang month now, the first time i went to the doctor waited in the office 3 hours to tell me he couldnt see anything wrong with my ears it got worse and i went to another doctor took about 10 minutes to tell me yes my ears are infected and gave me stronger antibiotics now another week later its starting to feel better, i didnt think i would be able to hear again i dont know how i even got it but it sucks! and doctors suck also!

I had a flu like virus that I finally shook after almost 3 months. About the time the meds were gone, it'd kick in again (nausea, fever, vomiting etc etc). I am not sick very often, but I was in the Dr.s office 4 times this year and used 14 sick days.....SUCK!!
I hope everyone is better soon.

Sorry to hear that guys. I've been to the doctor about 2 times in the last 18 years. Once for a migrain that lasted 2 weeks. The other was for a back spasm. Other than that I haven't really been sick since I moved to florida 18 years ago. I used to get strep throat ever year when I lived in indiana, 2-3 colds a year, hayfever etc.

Had teeth rattling shivers but sweating like a pig and 103.1 temperature last week. Finally went to doc and after chest x-ray he said pnuenococcal pnuemonia. Ached all over horribly. Fluid in both lungs and hacking up bloody crap too. Been on Avelox for 8 days. Went back for x-ray and checkup today..still fluid in left lung. Now back on Avelox for another 4 days with another chest-ray scheduled for Friday. This has kicked my butt worse than anything before. Pretty weak at this point. Hope your ear and temp get better soon. :frown:

Sorry to hear that you can't seem to get rid of the Flu. It seems with a Flu/Virus they usually just have to take their course in your body and no matter what the doctors prescribe it usually just takes plenty of rest as well as making sure you drink plenty of fluids. That 103* temp is no joke, I think at that point a doctor would probably advise you to take Tylenol and/or a lukewarm shower to get the fever down.

My ear infection also took two rounds of medicine.
It was extremely painful too.

What you are saying sounds like the tomato virus going around. All the hamburger joints around my area will not sell anything with a tomato on it. Supermarkets included. Find natural cures for your symptoms. Dr's just perscribe antibiotics to help out and to me thats a no no. The body is built to defend itself, when you use non natural stuff that the body does not understand it makes fighting the problem more of a task in my opinion. For what its worth I never use cough syrup or anything that is not all natural when I am sick. Same applies with my kids and they are 6 and 4 years old. Don't let them pump you up with junk that is chemical based. Just the way you study turbos, do some reading on natural methods of healing and your body will thank u for it in the long run. WOW, I am so sorry to hear of other people not doing well.
I guess misery loves company.
Here is the picture I sent my work so I would not have to explain why I was not coming in.

I went to the Dr again today and he mentioned that might have to stay out all this week...I got a note and Sharon dropped it off when picking up my turbo.
He reiterated that it was a nasty virus and there is not much he can do,
Just in case he gave me some zithomaz...

Wow John that is sick and not is a good kinda great 1/4 mile run kinda sick way or a Ted A motor back from DLS kinda way either.

I can sympathize cause on my trip last month I must of got some food poisoning of some kind and was sick as a dog and finally couldn't hold it anymore and I threw up all over the window of American Airlines, gross I know but I was really sick with a 103 temp too.

Speaking of sick too about 3 weeks ago prior to Norwalk I walked into a wire hanger with a hook on it I had hanging in my garage from painting some parts, I caught the eyelid and it peeled the skin back requiring 6 stitches and it swelled up like a Rocky 7 and looks as bad or worse than your eyes.

Good luck and I hope the doc figures everything out and you are back to work soon, cause being sick sucks.

Wow, glad I haven't seen any of that bug going around here. I'm having an awesome week myself, pulled muscle or pinched a nerve in my back, hurt so bad this morning it took me down to the ground. Also a dark spot under my thumbnail like a little infection, the side of my finger is throbbing and swollen. Just went to a 24 hour Walgreens to get some Epsom salts, hopefully a soak will bring down the swelling and maybe draw the infection out. At least when my back starts hurting I can just poke my thumb, makes me forget all about my back! I'd mention that I just typed this with one hand, but you jerks would have a field day with a comment like that.
