fluid out of detent cable hole???

Just installed the transmission and was filling the fluid and the fluid started coming out of the detent cable area... I took the cable from the old transmission and there was no gasket there that I noticed... did I miss something??? The dipstick says it's still real low on fluid but I can't put anymore in cuz it just makes right out... thanks for any help

Yep, you're missing the grommet. I've heard it called a top hat seal.
