What kind of intake/spacer combination are you guys running? I just bought the pipe from Ramchargers along with the LS1 MAF and that sucker is huge!

Thanks in advance...

I have the ESP piping, and got by with a .5" spacer. Thou the pipe rests on the IAC connector.

I put a small dimple in the pipe to make some clearence for the IAC connecter and I think I also removed the wire lock on the back of the IAC connecter. I did not need any spacer, even though my turbo 3-4 bolt adapter raised it a little.

Thanks guys. I found an inch spacer that I think will give me enough clearance along with Power Plate that I'm going to buy from Jason on Monday.

4" MAF pipe

to properly install, you will need to get an IAC angle adapter. Yes the pipe will work, but it will make the pipe and your IAC plug much happier.

Where can I get the IAC angle adaptor? Anyone else with input?

EDIT: How fast is that '96 Imp? Pretty impressive build sheet!

Just a quick question for you. Why a 4" pipe that you have to make a bunch of changes just to get it to work instead of a 3.5" pipe? I have a Big-Mouth setup from Mark and switched my MAF pipe from 3" to 3.5" and also went to the LS-1 MAF sensor. The filter end is 4" going through the 3.5" MAF pipe to the 3" turbo opening. Have you got the stuff to do the transition from the 4" MAF pipe to 3" turbo inlet (4": 3" reducer)? Since you are still limited to a 3.5" MAF sensor I don't know what you gain with the 4" MAF pipe other than some headaches.

Because I'm new to TR stuff and didn't know any better. :D I have all the hoses and stuff to make it work, I just didn't know that there would be an issue with the intercooler plumbing. How do you like this your setup? I'm hoping for good drivability and increased preformance. Should my expectations be high or low?

BTW, I still haven't gotten my car to run right since installing all my new goodies; I'm hoping my mass air and or chip was bad. I just bought a 1" spacer off a board member so I hope to get this thing running fairly soon.

Another quick question for you guys: What is the canister behind the driver's side head light? Do I need it? I'm sure I can relocate it if I have to, but would rather the weight come off the car.

I don't have the 3.5 installed yet but I am totally confident it will work awesome! If I were you I would send the 4" pipe back and get a 3.5" from Mark. This will save you some bucks on an angled IAC. I think they run $50.00 bucks alone. Do you have a Translator or Translator + to run the 3.5" MAF? As for the canister it can be moved over in the recessed area for clearance. I did this to my car to clear the Big-Mouth. Some people take it totally out but I prefer to leave it in.

Yeah, I have pretty much everything I need now except for the IAC angle adaptor. I think the 4" looks bad as hell - no way I would step down to the 3.5" ;) . I guess I'll move the canister to the back of the engine bay, but I'd rather remove it. What is it?

The canister is for fuel vapors, you can also relocate it to the frame rail. Not sure if you are supposed to use a spacer plate along with the Power Plate, you might want to check with Jason on that.

I need the spacer for clearance issues. I'm thinking I'll put the power plate on first and then the spacer, but I'll talk to Jason today and see what he recommends.

I didn't need a spacer when I had the stock intake setup and 4" MAF. Actually I had the HEMCO race plenum and 70mm TB, but still put the TB in the stock location. So I would think the poer plate would provide more than enough space without the spacer. The CAS sheetmetal intake I have now does move the TB down, but the 2.5 to 3" hose from the up pipe to TB provides me enough flexibility to make it work. I'm just saying that you probably won't need the spacer. But maybe your setup is different...

I have a Tomka cold air kit (3.5") and 3" I/C tubes, and I needed both the Angle Boss (IAC relocation block) and a PTE doghouse (5/8" taller than stock) to get the install I preferred.

If you do use a taller spacer and/or PP make sure to orient your clamps properly and that the hood clears (lest you have an oops)...

The Angle Boss can be found here:
