I'm helping a friend of mine install a Ford 9 inch rear in his 87 GN. We got the rear bolted in last night, and with the Strange U1603 pinion yoke, the driveshaft is riding exactly 1.5 inches further back than with the 8.5. (Not in far enough) Just for reference, the car still uses a 2004-R.
The bummer is that he's running an aluminum driveshaft, and would like to make it work.... rather than having a new one made. Has anyone installed a 9 inch rear end and figured out a combination to use the stock driveshaft length?
