Just went through my first E4od trans with the help of a ATSG book. Installed a trans-go "tugger" shift kit at the same time. The trans starts in 2nd gear, you can pull the shifter to first gear and it will go to 1st but then slides/slips into 2nd. As per trans-go advive I put a line pressure gauge and only had 60-70 psi,with the soleniod pack unplugged there was no change. The tech then said the only thing that can cause no pressure rise is a missplaced EPC plunger or a bad soleniod pack. I tried a another soleniod pack from the core trans that I used for replacement hard parts. It was a good trans as far as I can tell. The pressure went to 180 but still starts in 2nd gear. I hoping someone out in readerland can think of some stupid rookie mistake I might have made. Anybody have any experience with the E4OD? Maybe I should install a 2004R . There are some VERY knowlegdeable people on this board, I learn something new almost every day! Thanks in advance!

I've got a F-250 with a 4R100, newer tranny, and had an issue similar to what you describe. My problem turned out to be a broken wire in the harness beneath the truck.
