Looking for a new SUV for the wife, these things any good? She has a 95 Blazer that gets 18mpg or so, would like to do at least that. I was looking into a newer blazer 2000+ but thought I'd look around first.

My mom has one and im not a fan of driving it its not made for taller people. Its not that bad riding in it though.

Not a a bad unit for its size- it IS small, so be advised- small = loud, a bit cramped, somewhat tinny, good mileage.

Better test drive one, they're little tin cans, and don't have enough hp to get out of its own way. It wouldn't be a bad rid around town, but I wouldn't want to do a road trip in one or cruise on the interstate at 80mph for very long.

I've driven a few and their not to bad if all you want is something to cruise around in and go shopping. Just don't expect to win any road race or climb a mountain in one etc. Also, Ford was going to make a Hybird version also but can't recall if they ever built it.

They did make a Hybrid version, which my brother-in-laws brother has. He likes it a lot, feels a little weird driving in it to me.

We just bought a Ford Edge (never thought that would happen:eek: !) I really was impressed with the ride and the room! Also has a 265 hp V6 and really gets up there quick (for a ford;) ). Oh and of course.....IT IS BLACK!

go with a Toyota Rav4. 10 times the car for same $$. Trust me..

FlyinGN is correct.

The V6 Rav4 is a rocket ship and the 4 cylinder will get better mileage and both will hold there value better than an escape.

When we were looking for a small SUV a few years ago, the new Rav4 was superior to just about all of them.

We went with a Diesel Liberty because of the mileage and all good things Diesel, but since they don't make them anymore due to '07 Federal emissions standards, the Rav4 or the new Honda CRV are best in the cheap SUV's.

The imports are a bit pricey right now for what we can afford. The Liberty's are pretty affordable. How are the gas ones? My parents bought a 91 Cherokee 4.0 brand new and I just sold it with 175k on it, most reliable vehicle we ever owned.

Rav4 is no more expensive.. In fact Ill bet its LESS then an Escape.. Start in the low 20's top out at 30k

In 2005 we bought a loaded Mariner [Mercury version of the Escape], paid $22K through the internet sales dept for her to commute to work. With almost 30K miles, no repairs warranty or otherwise, even the tires are still good for another 30K, over 20 MPG in the city commute - she loves it!

Have used it on few few highway trips and the V-6 performs very well. No way in hell does an import park in my garage!:D
