I have the opportunity to buy a disassembled but complete '85 GN engine, turbo to pan, with the harness. I checked gnttype.org for engine parts shared with the 86-87's and found nothing definitive, I know the block and heads have a different casting#'s, but what about the crank and rods? Also, provided it IS complete AND unbroken, would it be worth $500. I searched for hot-air engines in "parts for sale," and it seems $250 is more realistic for a known running complete engine.
If I do go check it out, and find out that the car was not totalled, I'll post the VIN# just in case anyone is "missing" this engine.

If it is a 20 bolt "109" block (some cars starting around mid 85), the only difference on the blcok will be the turbo drain return hole. If it is a 14 bolt block, it is a bit different, i.e: Deck height, casting #, head bolts, and a few other minor things.

Heads, Crank, rods and pistons are the same.

its a 14 bolt and appears to be a reman or gm crate replacement. does have filet/chamferred crank and 2 dot rods. passing on the buy.
