ask turbonut85 he did a total restoration on his car. If anyone would know I think it would be him. Maybe have this moved to the hot air forum for some quicker response

now that is what i thought it was something like that i never replaced the iac probiably the previous owner but ive had the car 3 yrs i would have figured it would have fallen off by now

if you notice the pintle on the IAC its tapered to a point ..the thingymajobie pictured is flat. although the edge on backside looks like where the spring would lay...hmmm...edit...unless iac on 84 hotair has flat face..then it would be

the picture posted is not for a hotair car. that is 100% the IAC pintle. it can be removed in 10 seconds or less, but if your car was missing one you would probably have a real hard time idling and you'd definitely get an SES light.

I just posted a random iac. Next time I will make sure to take a picture of a hotair one that's in a box at the house. I was just showing what it was.

Here is a picture of an IAC valve from a Hot-Air car.

There are a couple of pins you can jumper on the ALDL port to reset the IAC. If you do this with the IAC motor out of the throttle body, but still connected to the harness, the guts will go flying! Ask me how I know... :o
