hey guys,

this may sound crazy, but one of my old buddies, (when he still lived here) had downloaded what Im pretty sure was an early version of TurboLink (maybe v2.13?) and he said it was free. He made his own connection to the ALDL and it worked just fine. Shortly after he tuned his car from a high 13 to a high 12. I presently still dont have any type of scan tool making tuning my car an issue. I would really like to see what my car is capable of before I leave to go back overseas, so if anyone knows what program he may have been running, Id greatly appreciate it. Oh, and by the way, I heard that v2.13 of turbolink is no longer available....was it ever free? And could you actually use the demo, or is it just that? Thanks guys!

Anyone try this?

I must have done something wrong because I get crazy readings. Example 72 MPH while I just started the car and still in park. I had a electrician do the cable assembly, and he thought since I am getting a signal that the cable is ok. Anybody?

You can download the Tlink program for free, but you'll have to buy the cable to make it work for you. Go here for more information. :)

Got a cable

I had a electrician make the cable for me, I got the parts from radio shack about $15 total. I bought a used laptop from ebay and tried it all out Tuesday. But it did not work for me, I get a connection to the car computer but all the values are wacko.

Did you actually see the program yourself or are you taking his word for it?

I thought that TurboLink software is free and the cable is actually a custom job.

There are some free WinALDL programs out there. Maybe this is what he is using. I bought the parts for around $10 and used that setup for some time. I then went to TurboLink because of the GUI but couldn't stand the slow rate. Decided DirectScan suited me best at 18 or so frames per second.

WinALDL can be downloaded here along with the instructions for making a cable. http://winaldl.joby.se/
