I just bought a used front cover for my 87 GN, I thought all large engine parts have a GM
part # molded in to ID it. Is this true or did I get an aftermarket part.

Does that mean the GM part has the oil seal on the inside ? The one I have is seal outside and no part # molded on it.

Have you seen an real GM cover ?

Sounds like you have an aftermarket cover. I hope you didn't pay much.

This is what a factory cover looks like.

Sir, you are so right, I'm sending mine back for refund. Thanks for the education.....

I want to replace regular engine parts with GM genuine parts if possible. I just don't want to replace original parts that are
Made in Japan or Made in China.

Got ya. T/A makes a nice front cover but I'm not sure where it's made.

TA offers aftermarket timing covers that are machined by TA performance to be better than OE standards and therefore are of a
higher quality. Maybe from China or Mexico ?
