How do you remove the front grill on a 1987 GN without removing the front bumper? I'm in the process of putting a tranny cooler in, but I don't really want to remove the radiator and etc.

heres one way remove the 2 springs at the bottom of the grille that attach to the bumper then lay on ur back get underneath the car and reach up to remove the 4 10mm bolts and it will drop then just easy it out of the opening kinda tricky but easy hope this helps

As you're laying on your back you'll look up and see the rubber flaps that seals the grill area bottom from the bottom of the car....this is to direct the air to the radiator and not leak out at the bottom....you'll have to unsnap the rubber flaps carefully from the bottom of the grill and fold back carefully. Then you can get to the top nuts of the grill....

Try not to rip the flaps up. Hope this helps.

yes to all the above....and, if your grill is nice, take some painters tape and cover the front center area, that should be the only part that may contact the back of the bumper when you go in and out with it.

The springs are on each bottom corner. You can see them by pushing back on a bottom corner. One end goes into a hole on the top of the reinforcement, the other the back corner of the grille.

To remove a spring,I kneel down in front and reach up under the bumper to get at each spring. Just put my front bumper on last weekend,so spring r-r was necessary.

I have been waiting to change my grill and markers over to black from my chrome ones in my 86 T. Got a few minutes and changed the grill out in about 15 minutes laying on the garage floor.
