I'm looking into buying a front mount i/c for my 87 T. I see a whole bunch of them for sell but have no idea which one to go with. Any recommendations on front mounts, anybody?

Looks like COTTONS Front Mount Intercooler is one of these best, but I was also thinking about the RJC Racing front mount. Any input on the RJC Racing front mounts?

Cottons has his new FMIC on sale, i'd def go with that if i had the cash right now.

...so far for the money i like the Gn1 performance one... if you are planning on running in the nines etc. then the cottons or rjc would probably be your best bet other than that most of the other ones will do...noah.

FMIC on a 13 second car? Don't even bother. You'll probably slow down if anything.

Me too!!! :D I compared em side by side, now that I've been able to build them in quanity, without lowering quality, it's better built with better components all the way around. The only downside of the Cottons IC was the price.... That is no longer the case. If you want the best product for the best price, give me a call...

Well, there you have it from the man himself. Quality and a good price over the competition, can't beat that!:D

I would tend to agree. If your combo is getting you 13's, you might want to spend your money on some other parts first. Just my 2 cents....

Are you running a stock turbo? What are your current mods?

Yes at the moment I am runnig a stock GNX turbo that came from my buddies gnx. As far as mods go I only have a coldair kit, a shi**y 2-1/4 catback and no cat and my boost set at 16psi. I just got a scanmaster and order a tt chip for race fuel 2 day ago. But I plan on upgrading turbo and do some more work on the engine this winter and right now i have extra money to buy me a good front mount

It may be a good idea to look at other mods before moving to a FMIC. High volume fuel pump with hotwire kit should be the first. Is this going to be a street fighter or a track car? Depending on your goals you may want to look at a stock location intercooler. Precision makes an excellent stock location that will support 750 hp. If you are going with a larger turbo you will want to replace your injectors as well. You cannot starve the engine of fuel. A 3" downpipe never hurts when upgrading turbo's.
The list never ends.

In fact if you want to push the stock intercooler to the max get an ALKY kit from Alkycontrol. I am running low 11's with a factory intercooler and alky.

I would SERIOUSLY think about a different mod if I were you. The stock IC with a Dutt neck is just fine well into the 12's. I would take that money, put on a Dutt neck, then buy Razors alchy kit. You will see NO gain with a front mount at this stage in the game unless you do a turbo and injectors at the same time. There are plenty of guys right now that will agree that one of the best mods you can do in the beginning is an alchy kit. guys running LOW 12's and even 11's with the stock turbo, IC and alchohol.

If your turbo is in fact an original GNX turbo, I would take it off the car and get another turbo to run with. I would then take the GNX turbo and shelf it or sell it. jmo

8TurboT7,

I don't get it dood. Everybody on here is screaming, "Don't do it!", yet I'm getting the impression that you are dead-set on it. I do see that you plan on running race fuel (at least part of the time), but the rest of your components (i.e.-turbo and heads) aren't moving enough air for a big-a** intercooler to help anything. I change my mind, you will slow down if you do it based on your mods. Just trying to help but it's your $ I suppose.

8TurboT7,
I agree with Christophah, the front mount won't do much for you at this point. As my sig indicates, I do have one but it came with the rolling chassis I bought and I didn't have a stocker laying around. Why are you opposed to Alky? It is a very effective, priced well, and will work with any future mods. With the addition of a FMIC, you will need to upgrade your fuel delivery.
