So the machined surface on the front of the block (where the cam sits) is damaged and needs to get sorted.

What to do? Machine shop says that common race style timing sets, have a flat Torrington type of roller bearing built into the back of the cam gear. But cant fine one for our engines.

I will install a CompCam roller cam with a roller timingset (all bought from Mike @ Fullthrottle) but what do we do with the block?

The billet roller cam kits use the roller bearing behind the cam gear.
DLS can hook you up with a setup
Not sure about the setup from Mike

If the block is already damaged, the Torrington brg setup wont have much surface to ride against. The best way to fix it is to use the Danny Bee thrust plate, you must machine the cam and drill & tap 3 holes in the front of the block. It works much like the factory setup on a SB Ford.

Billys idea also requires a Billet roller.
It wont work with the style cam that has the gear cast with it
