I removed the front seal to enlarge the oil drain back hole.
The seal that was included in my rebuild kit matched the seal that was in the pump: NATIONAL 4950.
The replacement oil seal is a Federal-Mogul 3227.
The seal is almost the same. It seems like the seal will fit in the pump properly and it feels OK over the TC, but it is not the same. Is the F-M 3227 OK? The F-M web site says it is for the 83-87 THM200-4R front pump seal.
I could not find a cross reference for these parts.
I am also posting in the Tech section for some more coverage.
Thanks,
