I just pulled my trans out to switch converters. I changed the front pump seal while I was in there too. There was a seal retainer made of a spring type steel that I broke when trying to put back together.
Do you really need this seal retainer? I used a little bit of the right stuff around the outside of the seal to help hold this front seal in and prevent leaks.. The new seal tapped into the front pump fairly hard. I don't think it will work out.
