I managed to puch the front seal away from the pump about 1/8th inch. I talked to my grandad and he said that he used lock-tite and a seal lock on 200r's that he rebuilt. I also talked to my local GN guru and he said that there was too much pressure behind the seal and he fixes it by modifying the pump...he also said he knew of the lock(I needed to get one from a 4L60). Do ya'll have any ideas or suggestions about this?

I had the same problem. My pump bushing had moved forward enough to restrict the fulid from returning to the pan. I replaced it twice before I found the problem and fixed it by staking the bushing to the pump housing. Also If you havn't already done so enlarge the return hole from the front seal.

enlarge the seal drainback holes to 1/4".also loctite bishing and seal and chamfer the hole leading from the seal bore to the drainback hole to reduce restrictions caused by the casting.verify the convertor is into the trans as far as possible leaving approx..040 between the convertor and flywheel after verifying cranshaft endplay is not greater than the distance between the convertor and flywheel.the seal retainer is only there to keep the seal from falling out completely if it has moved but doesnt stop it from moving.

cast into the pump cover and pump body .after you remove the seal youll see it .trans must be out of the car and you have to remove the oil pump to do this.
