Fuel Gauge is pegged max

My fuel gauge reads so full you can't see the needle in the window. When I accelerate from a stop the needle slowly comes back to about 3/4 reading, then slowly moves back to right out of sight. I'm using a Walbro 307 with hot wire on the pump. Doubt if that matters....

Can anyone shed some light on how to troubleshoot this problem. I really don't want to drop the tank if it's not necessary.

Might check for a pinched line or defective fp guage.

Check the connection of the yellowish three prong plug at the back of the gas tank.
