Fuel gauge

Hi to all, I took the instument panel off to lube a noisy speed ometer cable.I put it back and now I always have 3/4 tank of gas all the time,it had a 1/2
before the job and the gauge was working fine.What can cause that?

Verify and CLEAN the connections to the dash.
