I'm about to replace my fuel pump and I can't remember if the fuel pump filter (sock) orientation is critical. Something in the back of my mind says its important but I think all the beer has killed too many brain cells. I'm not sure I can trust looking at the old one so I'll ask the experts. How should the filter be aligned (front to back, or side to side) inside the tank? Thanks, you guys are great.

Thank you. So based on the pic, the filter goes front to back with the filter "long part" toward the front. I remembered the front to back part but apparently killed the brain cells that remembered which side the long part was on.o_O Time for another beer.

The fuel lines point to the right when this assembly is installed in the tank,so the sock would be a little towards the right rear when installed.
