Fuel return line leak...

My fuel return line is leaking. The connection is above the fuel filter. There is a a foot long piece of braided line connecting the front fuel line and the rear fuel line, the braided line is leaking through the steel. I disconnected one end of the line to change it and I cannot stop the fuel from coming out, it has drained over a gallon, surely 3 feet of line cannot hold a gallon of fuel, what do I have to do to stop it from draining so I can change it?
As luck would have it, I FILLED the tank with $118 of race fuel last night, so it is full!

I take it......

there's no way of lifting that hose up above the tank short of drilling a hole thru the trunk? no short piece of rubber hose to pnich off w/a vise grip?

May have to empty the gas into a couple of 5 gal cans until it breaks the vacuum.
