I have an '87 GN. The gas gauge is extremely slow to respond, and does not register accurately. I assume that is the sending unit in the tank.

I believe I've seen someone who offers a new sending unit attached to a new pump. Does anyone know if I can just get the sending unit?

Thanks.

If you can, just drop your tank and repair yours...

I just had to do the one that I bought as it wasn't working the meter correctly.

here's a site that details how, it's incredibly easy.... well, all except for dropping/installing the tank:eek: but you'd have to do that anyway..lol.

Blank

either way you go, good luck:cool:

If you can't fix yours, you can get a new one here: Metco Motorsports The one I got measured about 90 ohms, which is correct for the analog dash. Napa's website also lists one, but I haven't tried to see if they can actually get one. :)

This is great info. So, one question. How confident should I be that this will fix this? I've had the tank down before, but only attempted to clean.

Is this a pretty sure thing? Gauge does work now, just not correctly and slowly.

Thanks.

only way it wouldn't work is if you have a wireing problem (external grounding issue), or a physically broken sending unit. If it's just "dirty/varnished"... the scotchbrite pad will fix it.

Just be careful not to break the flimsy contacts... soft but firm.... soft but firm..lol.

Fuel Guage

My fuel gauge works until it gets just below 3/4 of a tank and stops moving. I have a double pumper in my car if that matters. Does anyone know what may cause this? I dont know if the gauge was working proper before I installed the pump either. When I got the car home. I got it running and did a body off frame rebuild. Thanks.
