Well I am almost finished with putting my long block together and I need to start thinking about what kind of fuel system to run. right now all i have is a 307 pump and some 42.5 inj. Here is what I was thinking of doing: keep the intank pump, weld another pickup tube in the sending unit plate and connect it to an external areomotive pump. Run both pumps to a Moroso Y block joining them into a -8 fuel line all the way to the pass side of the fuel rail. As for a return line i was going to come out of the regulator with a steel braided line down to the frame rail. But instead of hooking to the small factory return line, hooking it to the stock feed line and turning the fuel filter around. This is just one idea i have heard from some freinds. Any input would be appreciated. I have almost the same combo as Jason Cramer short of a few bolt ons but those are in the works.

Why run both an in-tank and an external. Get any Aeromotive pump except the A-100 I believe its called or a Weldon and be done with it. Just my two cents.

Two pumps is a recipe for disaster if you ask me. What if you are in the middle of a run and one pump fails? What if you are in the middle of a run with a single pump setup and it fails? I'll take door number two Bob.

Sounds like an interesting approach. Have a few comments though. First, the 307 pump would have to be replaced. Of all the pumps I have replaced or heard of failing, 307's are at the top of the list.

Hopefully you will also have another filter in the supply lines?

If you are going this far, why not modify the fuel rail to remove the stock-type regulator and mount a high capacity one on the firewall or inner fender.

You do not say if this is going to be street driven? If so, you could have a switch for the secondary pump to use it only when needed.

hey guys, thanks for the replies. the car will be street driven on cruise nights and the usual impromptu smackdown. not a daily driver anymore. the external pump will definitly be setup on a hobbs switch. i have had three fuel pumps in 6 years one was a 190 ltr BGC it lasted 2 years, then i had a 307 for 4 years up until about 6 months ago when it went out. i replaced it with another 307. i am not sure how exactly i would modify the fuel rail to set up an Aeromotive regulator, any insight? i agree that a single pump is the simplest and most foolproof way but i am just kicking around ideas. i am going to need enough fuel to get into the 9's. like i said before, i have(am working on) almost the same setup as jason cramer except my heads flow more(desktop dyno is estimating around 730hp/ 800lb.ft torque). it will definitly be interesting. thanks. jeremy

Cut the end off the rail where the stock reg goes and weld/solder a -6 or -8 female fitting there.
