Hey guys, I just got done doing some tests on my T-type today in my Engine Performance Lab. We had to check FP, then FP with 15 inches of vacuum (line off), injector wire voltage, injector resistance, and injector pressure drop.
The first thing that got my attention was the differences in my FP gauge vs the schools FP gauge. According to my gauge, I had the FP set at 43 line OFF. According to the schools gauge, it was 38 line off and 29 line on!?!? I went ahead and did all the tests on the car as it was.
Injector voltage through the harness ranged from 12.4-12.5 (battery voltage).
Resistance in the injectors (Blue Tops 36#ers):
Injector #1 = 15.2
Injector #2 = 15.1
Injector #3 = 15.1
Injector #4 = 15.2
Injector #5 = 15.1
Injector #6 = 15.0
Pressure drop after pulsing each injector:
Injector #1 = 20psi
Injector #2 = 18psi
Injector #3 = 16psi
Injector #4 = 18psi
Injector #5 = 18psi
Injector #6 = 18psi
*each recording was done after first turning the key on to regain proper fuel rail pressure.
*injectors are numbered according to cylinders.
The resistance values looked good, but I am a bit worried about the pressure drop on injector #3. Does anybody know the specs for the Ford Blue Top Injectors? Is there somewhere I can look these specs up? Im really curious to see if they are within range. So back to my post.......after completing the Lab, I went ahead and set the FP to 42 line off according to the schools FP gauge, and the car was PIG RICH. BLMs were 108-115 at idle. So I went ahead and set the FP to 38 line off according the the schools gauge. I then proceeded to put my FP gauge back on and it read 42 line off. BLMs seem fine, 120s and 130s at idle. But when you squeeze on the gas, maybe 1/4 throttle or 1/2 throttle, the BLMs always go to 150?? Have any of you guys ever watched your BLMs around town? What kind of values are you seeing?
