fuel tank drain

While im doing the walbro pump and the tank is out would it be a good idea to put a drain in the tank,When you go racing you just empy the street gas fill with 114 and voila

The sounds like a good idea but it would probly be safer/easier to run a fuseblock or put a switch onto the fuel pump wire so you can turn it on and off manually.

Then you can use the shrader valve to pump the fuel out.

Doesn't one of the "loose wires" behind the alternator power the fuel pump?

Yes, the grey wire.
