I need to find a steeing column from a newer GM with tilt, shift, and airbag wiring.

Would something off a newer Caprice work ? early 90's ?

Anything else work ?

Let me see if I get this straight. You want to put an air bag on a G-body?

You can crossbreed parts from a 91-96 B-body or a 91-97 F-body as those are probally the only columns that appear to be the older style. I've never heard of anybody doing this. I have helped a guy take the air bag off his 4th gen Camaro. We used parts from a 3rd gen F-body and reused the jacket and lower shaft from his original column. I would imagine you would have to use the jacket and lower parts of the G-body column with the housing and upper parts of the donor column.

Another neat idea while you are crossbreeding parts would be to figure out how to put the optional stereo and cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Steering wheels are still interchangable between the years and models. I've always like the leather wrapped steering wheels in the new Park Ave Ultra's, I just wasn't to keen on the airbag part.

I'm not putting the airbag on the car, I just need the wire "into" the steering wheel to be able to do audio controls on my custom wheel.

Most air bags "send" 3 wire into the wheel, this will allow the wheel to always turn and use those wires to control the audio controls............

I ended up buying a column off ebay for $20 from a 95 Suburban, so I am going to use that.
