Hey,
I'm just wonderin what kinda gas mileage you guys are getting..
I know my speedometer is messed up and it stops and 40mph and reads slower than you're actually going..so will that cause your odometer and trip odometer to measure less??
I filled my tank last wed and am down to alittle less than 1/4 tank and it says Ive gone 140 miles..now I think I've gone more than that..I've driven it to school for 4 days which is about 25miles round trip and also gone other places..but I mean if I get 160 miles out of a full tank, that's HORRIBLE...how do you improve gas mileage?? either that or the guage is messed up..I'll hafta see how much gas I actually get the next time I fill..
Also..would a stall converter effect gas mileage??
Thanks..

On a long 1100 mile round trip to NC recently, I averaged a little over 22mpg. Around town and normal work commute and stuff, I average about 16-17 mpg.

My mileage when I bought the car a few years back was around 25mpg on the highway for the trip home. On a trip this last weekend I only averaged around 20:( .

on a recent trip I made doing 75 most of the way, I got about 17mpg, I get worse than that in town though.

Well after filling my tank and going about 150 miles (mostly around town) it took alittle over 15 gallons..if my math is right I'm averaging 8.1 miles a gallon!!! WHAT the hell is goin on here?!
I have a stall converter so I understand how you hafta give it some extra gas to get goin, but that's no reason to be getting 8.1MPG!! damn..someone please tell me what's goin on here..

dirty filters, plugged cat, foot in it to much, maf screwed up, leaky inectors, foot in it to much (again), chip settings

I get 19 mpg highway having fun only on the on ramps and passing. In town is probably 12 - 15

could be a loose nut behind the wheel  :D ;)

Check and see if you have any leaks in the fuel system. Above the rear axel, there are rubber lines between the tank lines and the metal lines that go to the front. There are also rubber hoses coming off the metal lines in front of the engine. With good intake and exhaust you mpg will go up.

i get about 210 miles to the tank....mostly because of the "foot into it too much" reason :D i guess thats not to bad tho .... 15 gallon fillup ...210 miles...im getting about 14 mpg ..hey not bad!! and i always have my foot in it

Strictly city driving, barely see OD, TC lockup usually less than a mile at a time, 13- 14 mpg here. Red's chip is a pig though.

around town with "heavyrightfootitus":D I get about 16 to 17. Change the O2 sensor, I picked up about 4-5 mpg when I did this.

On the trip to Bowling Green for the Nationals I got 21-22 MPG on the trip up and 22-24 MPG on the return trip. Always get higher mileage on the return trip (going down hill, I think). In town I get anywhere from 14.5 to about 16.5 MPG. my car is a stocker with a tA49 and a V4 intercooler and runs Alchy with a Red's 100 chip.

I'm in the same boat here. I get about 160 miles to a tank. When it shows empty, I can only get in 13 gals. So that's a little over 12 mpg:( I hope it goes up when I get my header welded and my MH Big Mouth intake installed.

I will admit, I do have the "foot on it too much" problem but that's mainly because of the stall converter because I like to get up to speed at a decent rate..But still..8.1MPG?? no way..
As for as I know there aren't any leaks (that you can see after leaving a parking spot)
Maybe I'll buy an O2 sensor and see if that helps at all..
As far as I know the filters are good, and the cat is brand new (put in new exhaust a few weeks ago) I don't know how the MAF could be bad..wouldn't it be worse than bad gas mileage??
I have the scanmaster 2, so are there any numbers on there that will help me at all with finding this problem??
If so, please let me know what those numbers SHOULD be at and whether it's at idle or while driving..and I can compare it.
Thanks

15 MPG combined city/highway mileage during regular daily driving within a 25 mile radius of where I live. However, I took the TR on a trip last weekend to Rome, GA and back and averaged 25 MPG during interstate driving (mostly). Speeds were about 70 MPH interstate and 60 MPH secondary roads.

~ 25 mpg on the highway in the t-type.

For sake of comparison, ~ 27-31 in the trans am. (highway)

Of course in town, driving like an ass, in both cars you can cut that gas mileage in half.

Damn looking at your guys numbers, I seem to have one of the good ones. I get good gas mileage, can run crazy boost (23+ lbs) with no knock on pump gas, have mega oil pressure (good sign the engine isn't worn out), burn absolutely not one drop of oil, etc. Actually I think it's more that my car has been rebuilt from top to bottom by an excellent mechanic (it was his baby and his wife forced him to sell it).

I drive a lot of short trips a week. Less then 3 miles in one directions. Alot are only 3 miles round trip. I don't beat on it much. Mostly drive around 40-45 miles/hr. I getting around
13 miles to a gallon. I don't think thats bad. I having to much fun driving it to care.;)

I travel 50 miles daily, 1/2 at 70mph and 1/2 city. I get 450-480 km or 300 miles per tank 57 litres / 12.5 gallons, about 24mpg (Canadian gallon). My other GN would get 24-28 but was more stock than this one.:D

Search on 'mileage' - plenty of posts on this.
I get avg. 15 - do see more highway thx to Testa's chip.
My foot is 'always' in it.......
