The baffles in my gas tank shattered before I bought the car off my dad. It works fine but I don't drive with less than a 1/4 tank. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to pretty much make a new baffle or something similar out of aluminum or something to that effect. It's not that important that I'm goin to go buy a $300 gas tank just for baffles so I'm looking for an alternative.

a1 auto has the tank shipped to your door for $150ish. I got one and way less of a hassle than making new baffles..

Without a baffle 1/4 tank might not be enough, Some Buick's have trouble under half tank even with a baffle...A lot depends on how hard your car launches, as you upgrade it will become more and more important...The last thing you want to do is find out the hard way when the car leaves and then goes way lean because the pickup gets uncovered.

Check rock auto! $150 for the new GN baffled tank we put in our LS Monte project.

You could add a sump but good luck finding someone to weld it in. A used gas tank is a very, VERY dangerous thing to weld on. I had a coworker who's dad had his chest blown wide open trying to weld repair his tank. Blew him 20+ feet into their back fence with his rib cage WIDE open. He did survive though. You need to wash it out with detergent lots of water and rinse and repeat a few times. Then purge the tank with argon or dry ice before and during welding. A new tank is a better choice.

What are you calling shattered? Have you looked in the tank or are you hearing it move? The factory baffels just have 3 snaps that hold in place, may be they just came loose and it is moving around freely. I have not tried one that is loose yet but it may be possible to resnap it in place if not broken. The factory baffles are not magical as most think and are not as big. Recentely we cut one open just to see how it really is and it was very simple setup. After comparing an old spectra premium (2008??) to a new one (2011-2012) the new ones are better baffled and nearly as good as factory IMHO.
