This is a old 1999 art carr trans that has a billet servo, trans brake, deep pan and a 10 vein pump.
Currently its a nonlockup.
Well, my convertor went bad, so i need the trans gone thru.
I have a guy here in town that does them for the buick guy, they seem to be running fine, low 11s.
Well, my ultimate goal with this car is to run 10.0 at 135ish.

I purchased the tranny used, and have no idea whats inside of it as for hard parts.
I have a new 13 vein pump, input shaft,a few hard rings?? and a wide second gear band from PMAC that i purchased in 2001.
I want to purchase the 5xx.00 forward drum, what other parts should i upgrade to handle mid 10s?

The trans guy told me 375.00 plus what ever i want done, well, i dont really know what all should be done and what parts should be upgraded to making this trans reliable.
This tranny has been broken for too long, i want the best parts avail.
Basically i want a package of parts to give the guy and have him install them.
Trans goes into the shop tuesday, he will let me know what parts it already has, then i can order accordingly.

Currently the car will die once i let off the brake pedal, it shifts into 2nd gear immediately.
Any help would be appreciated

You may want to include a heavy duty forward drum with billet oversize input shaft.

I broke mine the vert first day with my new higher hp motor. Paul

i would check out and see what is in there first, but billet input shaft, forward drum, Od planetary are the main ones if you are gonna try and live that far into the 10s. I would recommend dual feeding the direct clutches as well going that fast, as long as you are gonna have the billet forward drum. It probably already has one but a hardened stator is important as well. add a high quality billet convertor and you should be ok

Could you elaborate on the dual feeding the direct clutches and OD planetary?

Hardened stator, thanks.. need to find some part numbers....

Guys i appreciate the info, i am on a serious learning curve with this tranny as to what parts i need to order.
My daily has a PMAC in it and it has worked flawlessly for 4 years, i just paid Mike to build that trans, i didnt get the drum and total it was 1700 or so not including convertor.
I really want this trans to be right the first time, and want the best parts.
I would purchase one outright, but the price of shipping :o

The OD=overdrive planetary. The splines like to shear off where the input shaft goes through it at that kinda power level(especially with an upgraded input shaft). You can purchase the planetary through PTS. Dual feeding is a procedure that substantially increases the pressure used to apply the direct (2-3 clutches) You leave out a lip seal in the direct drum, and leave out the center teflon seal on the center support shaft. Then you have to block off one of the center support bolts and along with a drilling adjustment on the accumulator hole on the valvebody plate. You can do a search for "dual feed" and it will give a lot of detailed info. You can visit CK performance or PTSs website and see all the hard parts available. Bruce has a pretty good writeup on making the 200 survive at the top of this section and Chris at CKperformance has a very informative rebuild manual as well. Good luck with it.

I second that. I broke mine in the spring.

Just make sure you take it to someone who knows what they're doing. I'd invest in CK's manual. Even if you're not rebuilding it yourself, the info in there is gold and makes you an educated consumer when you do decide to take it somewhere. It talks about all of the 'tricks' mentioned here, too.

the billet drum and dual feed mod should be considered mandatory.in order to ensure reliability by improving hydraulic calibration the drum needs to be updated.most important have someone who understands how the transmissioin works perform the rebuild procedure.as stated having our manual on hand is always a plus but i will still furnish the dual feed information regardless of where you purchase your parts.just let us know.

I will take this trans to the guy tomorrow, if i feel that he is incompetent to make this tranny run mid 10s with 2000.00 in the tranny alone, then i definitely will seek a vendor here.
Chris, please email me a quote for a 10.5 - 10.0 2004r my car weighs 3000 plus me at 179.
I never heard one word about a dual feed mod from this guy, yall are making me lean more toward a real vendor.....

HOW MUCH????
