Glasstek fiberglass hood question?

Gents,

Spank here. Got a question for you. I purchased a 4" cowl Glasstek hood a little while back. Got it painted and was bolting it on the car this evening. Everything seemed to fit rather well for a fiberglass hood untll I attempted to open the hood. The hood opens about 3/4 of the way... that is until the cowl scoop comes in contact with the windshield. Has anyone else bought a Glasstek hood and ran into this issue? My painter said that he could trim the cowl so the hood would open the whole way but I am afraid that it would look stupid after doing so. Comments? Thoughts?

hey Chris, i had to trim the cowl on my Glasstec 4" cowl hood also. It still looks good with the little bit I had to cut off. I have about 1/2" clearance between the windshield and the cowl when the hood is opened. Shawn

I had to trim my Glasstek 4" hood on my Malibu, just cut off about a 1/4 to a 1/2 - you can't tell.

How much did you have to cut off of the cowl on your car? Thanks to both of you guys for the insite!

Fiberglass hood

I'll have to say, Shawn, what a bad ass, beautiful Grand National you have there. Wow. I'm impressed...the wheelstand is awesome, and the stance...I'm jealous! What are the times you run in the quarter? Again, real nice professional work there. Thanks for sharing the pictures. If I saw that thing in my rear view mirror, I'd have to pull over and get a hamburger, and pray it's not as nasty as that Grand National of yours. Real nice car!
