Glovebox won't open.

The locking mechanism fell out of the glovebox, it's jammed shut and I don't want to break it open. Not even sure if there's anythign in it, but it may be a handy location to store stuff! Any recommenations on how to open it without the locking mechanism? If I put the key in the mechanism, I can slide it back into the glovebox, but not far enough to be able to open it up...

Who knows, maybe the owners manual is in there.

5 sheet metal screws in the hinged bracket in the bottom.

Not quite sure what that will do for you?

Controlled force works for me.... errrr... sometimes... ;)

Nope your correct.
Mine did the same and I removed those screw then jsut wiggled the top latch loose.
