is the seals the same on a gm cover and an aftermarket even though the gm seal goes in from the backside? thanks

No, The lip seal will face in the opposite direction

No, they are different seals. the one that comes with the felpro kit TCS45930 is for the GM cover.

Ok, thanks. If I get one at a parts store it will most likely be for the stock GM cover??

no, it WILL be for the GM cover. If you have a china cast cover you need to get the number off of the seal that came out it and order it based on specs. It won't X-reference to anything related to Buicks.
