I'm thinking about replacing the door and T-Top weatherstrips on my '87 GN and reviewing my options.

1. Does the GM stuff available today look like the original GM stuff from years ago? (who's making it for GM today?)

2. Has anyone compared the weatherstrips from the three companies above and how close are they to matching the original weatherstrips?

I'm a little hesitant about the GM stuff because I don't know how long ago the stuff was made and where its been sitting all these years. A few years ago for another T-Top car, I went through several sets of GM weatherstripping as it was already dry rotted and separating at the rear pin area of the long seal right out of the box!

The Metro stuff has a 15 year warranty and the Soffseal stuff has a lifetime warranty. What have been your experiences? -Anthony

Soffseal blow ass!! Do not use them.

Do a search on this subject on the forums, I came across a thread a while back and there is a company and brand that everyone has alot of great luck with.. supposed to fit like original GM stuff, but not cost near as much.

Do some searching.. .its there somewhere.

My advice is to stay away from soffseal.

They are neither soft, nor do they seal.

The stuff they're made of is is incredibly hard and your windows will never seal properly.

I ordered my t-top seals from gmpartsdirect and had no complaints at all. I did not order the door seals at that time but will in the future, after I figure out how to pay for a transmission with money I do not have.

the molded ends on the softseal are very thin & soft, the rest of the seal is hard. they also dont fit under the edge of the upper door panel like the factory seal. i found this out the hard way

Thanks to all offering their opinions. I also reviewed the topic searching previous threads. I've decided to get the GM one's :) . If quality is an issue like I described in the opening thread, I can have the dealer get me replacements via a return through the "Request for Inspection" process. Thanks again. -Anthony

I can relate to this. I installed the drivers side first and did not have time to do the passenger side. The car was quiet and it fit like a glove. Then three weeks later I got around to installing the passenger side and thought they sent me the wrong piece. Long story short it sucks! It is hard to figure out how one side can be so nice and the other is not even close. It just pisses me off every time I go for a drive.

 I will have my Metro seals on this week, I will let you know how they are! Got em through Postons.

I just installed a set of Metro seals today, they fit absolutely perfect!! I have no complaints!! Very reasonable in price too. Hope this helps
