Found out today that my insurance company thinks my car is just a Regal. Bastards. Anyway, I gotta get my car appraised ASAP in case something happens to it. Anyone have suggestions for this? I don't even know where to start to find someone that would know what a 40k GN is worth and document it.

Make sure you show your insurance company the NADA classic car guide. I was lucky mine kept it on hand. The GN and T-type are featured in there. This could save you the cost of an apprasial which usually consist of a shady used car lot guy walking around the car quickly, taking your check, and giving you some crazy amount on paper. Make sure you tell them it's for insurance because they usually jack the price a little more.

Good Luck,
James

I looked in my local yellow pages. The appraiser i used also owns a body shop. He had all of the price guides.

The guy even knew which rpo code was for the grand national package.

Hopefully around a large city there are probably even more auto appraisers but here in Louisville Ky there are only 4 listed and 2 of the listings are out of business!

If i wouldnt have found these i would have had to checked in a larger city.

Thanks Wakko SS for the stereo help

Do you want to pay insurance on a basic Regal or pay the higher insurance rate for the GN. It's your call by the sounds of it. I personnally pay insurance for the basic Regal. My thinking is I'm the only one driving this car and if someone hits me I'll deal with at that point. I'm not going to pay more per year for my GN than a brand new vehicle. Odds are as little as I drive it I'll win. In the event of a claim do the leg work later. If a claim was to be made over and above your coverage do what most others do is seek restitution. The higher rate is not worth it in my eyes. My .02's worth. Drew:)

I'd rather pay the higher insurance, actually. Liberty Mutual (my ins. co) actually took care of my with my LAST Turbo Regal...I got 9500 for it with very few receipts (I bought most of my parts used). I wonder if they'd be responsible for paying the higher GN value if something happened since they had the VIN and should have known it was a TR? I'll have to talk to them about that. Neal, I look forward to checkin out your place. Drew, no problem with the help...glad you got it working.
