Just went out for a nice drive to the hardware store about 3pm and just made it back home via tow truck. Went in to the store came back out and it cranked fine. Then I went to the grocery store, came back out and didn't want to crank. So I raised the hood and wiggled the plug wires and pushed in the fuel rail pressure release valve. Had fuel pressure there. Got back in and it cranked. I drove about 1/2 mile and it just quit. Everything else works fine, but the car would just turn over and occasionally fire. So I went and got gas poored it in, and it would occasionally fire, but now it will do nothing but turn over. Any help/tips would be great. thanks

you need more info before you start this. Figure out what you are NOT getting. No fuel? No Spark? Start with basics. If you are not getting fuel, can you hear the fuel pump prime? What is your fuel pressure? Need fuel filter? Are the injectors firing?
Do you basic run down first, then come back, list your mods, there are plenty of people on the boards with a wealth of knowledge that can and will help. BUT... you need to do some research to help narrow down the problem. Check all fuses, reset ECM...
Good luck
Welcome to the board

hi

I had a no start condition... no sparks!!! After changing out coil/module, cam sensor... the problem was the crank sensor

trouble shoot first.

good luck... dave

Found a troubleshooting guide here Vortex Turbo Buick Performance. I thought for sure this was going to be a spark issue. I pulled a couple spark plugs and they have fire. I used a fuel rail pressure gauge, and it shows 0 psi. Car fired off of carb/choke cleaner. Don't see any real reason to continue on to the injector testing with the noid light at this point. The pump that's in it is a Walbro 340 that is less than a year old. The fuel filter is about the same age, and the car has covered just 2000 miles in that time. I cannot hear it prime, but I've never really been able to hear it. Are there any other tests I can do to verify that it is for sure the pump before I go through that procedure again? Car is basically stock with Walbro 340, hotwire, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, new plugs, filters, etc. Nothing major. thanks,

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse under the dash and also the hotwire kit should have a fuse as well maybe it has blown.

There is a fuel pump jumper connector in the wiring harness behind the alternator that you can connect to see if the pump works, it's the one that has a grey wire.

More info in the troubleshooting section under fuel pump circuitry in the link you posted.

Double check if you have a hotwire kit..there should be a fuse close to the alternator..

Fuse is good for the hotwire. Unplugged the hotwire connector and reconnected the factory plugs and still nothing.

Have you checked for power at the connector to the pump. Does your fuel gauge work, you might have a ground problem at the fuel pump / sending unit.

Did you hook up the fuel pump connector behind the alternator to see if the pump was working?

May want to check the wiring plug / connector for the fuel pump behind the rear bumper,it may have worked itself loose.

I've got power at the center prong. The 2 on either side have nothing. The fuel gauge has been working fine. Where are the grounds for the fuel pump and sending unit?

Wiring behind rear bumper is fine. I didn't know there was a fuel pump connector behind the alternator?

One on the outside is the fuel gauge and the other is the ground. I had a fuel pump ground problem at the fuel pump inside the tank. If you have power to the connector, sounds like you are having a problem at the pump.

If it is a cam or crank sensor, would that cause the fuel pump not to work, and everything else to be fine? I really don't want to unnecessarily drop the tank again.

Have you checked the fuel pump relay?

I've got power at the fuel pump relay center post. If I bypass the relay/hotwire all together and plug the factory connectors into each other, still nothing, so it's probably not the relay. I have 11.9 volts at the battery and 8.03 volts at the connector for the fuel pump. When I plug in the connector, I don't hear the fuel pump do anything.

If it was a cam or crank sensor, would that allow everything else to work but the fuel pump? I don't want to unnecessarily drop the tank again if I don't have to. It will crank if carb/choke cleaner is sprayed in the throttle body. If that is so, could it still be the cam or crank sensor? I switched out the ECM with another car, and that car cranked off my ECM so that is ruled out.

Sounds like the pump is shot or bad connection in the tank.

Pump was a new Walbro 340 and installed in Mar. 07. Anyone else heard of something like this happening this soon with one of these? After all, the stock pump is >20 years old and although it doesn't have the same capacity, it still worked when removed.

Is there anything else I need to do diagnostically before I drop the tank?

Where did you buy the Walbro?
there were some problems with Chinese fakes (Walbros) being sold.
8.03 VDC at the pump is not sufficent; it will run but kill the pump very quickly.

Can you probe the tan wire right before it goes into the tank? If you have voltage there, then it's in the tank. bad pump, or bad connection.
