so i had my suspicions but finally got the wideband hooked up and the car is idling in the 12.9-13.2 range. ive backed fp down from 43 to 38 and not much change, ive checked all over for vacuum leaks and found none at all. i have a brand new TT chip and inj combo, the instructions with the chip say to reset the maf-trans to base settings and not lean at idle which i did.
the idle sounds ok, doesnt sound to be missing...its just pig rich and smells horrible.
am i missing something to check ? the plugs and wires dont have many miles on them at all but have been sitting for a few years.
any pointers would be incredibly appreciated.

check the headers for leaks?
could also be an ignition issue (coil pack/module) if you were idling on 4 cylinders you might not even know it.

whats your blm's if its 10 over 128 then your running lean and its adding fuel so you bump up fuel if its 10 or more under 128 then your rich and its trying to pull fuel so you lower fuel pressure

That A/F at idle is not rich. If you have the 5.7 chip, you can set closed loop at idle, which will idle at 14.7 (see instructions). But that will make the idle less stable, and I've found it usually smells worse because it wants to misfire, but's its worth a shot.
There are many other things that could cause a smelly exhaust. Small misfires, big cam, lack of cat converter, sucking in oil through PCV, poor ring seal, etc.

Regards,
Eric
