I bought a GN rear spoiler to put on my T and the paint is original and needs to be removed before repaint. I was thinking of doing this part of the job at home before taking it to the body shop. Is it safe to use aircraft thinner on the spoiler? I don't want to melt the thing if I decide on the diy route and I also want to give the body shop a heads up if a strong chemical will damage the spoiler material. I'm not sure if the original GN spoiler is plastic or fiberglass?

I have just completed stripping my enitre GN for paint; used both stripper and 80 grit on a DA. Of course, I had the usual checking in the paint covering the metal surfaces.

However, the rear spoiler is made of fiberglass and easily sands out for new paint. On the fiberglass parts, I recomend using 80 grit paper and avoid using the stripper.
