My daddy just got a 2012 Shelby Cobra, new.Had them change supercharger pulley before he left with it for a few more psi. What do u guys think is gonna happen when we line them up? I know once he breaks it in it's gonna hafta happen.

The guy that bought my 2011 Shelby just did a pulley swap & a tune. He's now putting 580 to the wheels. I'd say your dad's car is going to be a strong one. But I can't really predict a winner. Be sure to post up the outcome, though!

Yea thats it. Shelby Cobra GT 500. Ive read some articles claiming close to 650 hp. Feels really, really strong. One thing I dont like is when you redline it,wrench comes on the dash and have to wait 30 mins for reset. Gotta be a way to manually reset it and reverse is really close to 5th gear. He traded in his 2012 5.0 GT and trust me,that thing was more than 413 hp as rated. Cant believe Im gonna say this but Ford has done a good job.

How many miles are on it? I took mine to the rev limiter a few times and never ran into this problem. It may be a "limp mode" activated until the car reaches more miles for the "break in"?

i predict he beats you handily in a drag race, utterly spanks you in any corners, and gets better gas mileage while doing it..

technology marches on.

And on straight 91octane too!

The 2012 GT500 was a carryover from 2011. It was 550hp. The '13 is 662hp, but yes, Ford has done a good job with their latest mod motor offerings.

get in youre daddys head. let him know he,s going to miss a gear and youre going to whip he,s ass the way he whipped youres as a child!

well the 2012 model stock ran a 12.4 @ 116 when car and driver tested it and with the extra hp he might not have a good chance of hooking... with your mods you should be able to score some bragging rights rather easily (7.40 1/8~ 11.5X's)

This is kind of neat, 2013 GT 500 at Seabring, tune, cat delete, STOCK tires and weights a frog under 4000 lbs. with driver, about 10 seconds slower than the fastest ZO6 Corvette set up to race! Don't let the Camaro boys BS you, these things can also take the curves in style!

I have a feeling you might get an ass whoopin'. But, I will still root for the old Buick! Lets hope he misses a shift or can't hook!

Nix

Copied driver comments from the Seabring ride posted at #12 above......

This car is awesome!!

2.29.339 on street tires and stock brake pads and lines. All I did was change the fluid to Brembo LCF 600, resonator delete and a tune from Jon Lund. If anybody wants to know, Catalytic Converter Temperature Protection is Active.

Went to post Time Trial Compound and got put on the scales.

Less than a quarter tank of fuel (42 miles to empty) race weight with driver....3,993 lbs and I weigh 180.

Comparison Data:
Running with a couple of Corvette buddies of mine both on Hoosiers with Pfadt Coilovers. Z06 built motor, (race car) 2.24.874 / ZR1 with tune and Coilovers 2.27.226

I'm running the factory tires!!!!! 20's out back and 19's up front!!!

All things considered I am extremely impressed with the performance of this car.

I am blown away. I was hoping for a 2.35 as a possible best.

For comparo purposes my previous personal best in my 2007 with an iron block was 2.26 with a Griggs ST chassis and Hoosier R6's. I have not been back to Sebring as of yet with my Griggs TT Chassis and aluminum built motor and KB 3.6.

All laps have been recorded. Will try and post video in the next couple days.

Van

I can only imagine what would be possible with some R compound tires.

He doesnt miss to many shifts. He also still rides a Suzuki B-King that is wicked fast and he shifts it so qwik you'd think it had an air shifter on it. He's always been a hot rodder and known around for having the quickest rides in town for over 50 years. I think my 20 yr old daughter got his qwikness, she has a Ninja I got her for graduation and she goes thru the gears pretty qwik. Thank goodness the GN is an auto and I dont even try anymore on my ZRX 1100 to beat him.

yea u may get it handed to you! those cars are beast. and seems like your dad has the expeeriance to push the car how it needs to go. i hope your GN is ready for it.

Look at it this way. For as much money as the new shelby go's for. If you stick that cash in your buick . So that the price tages are the same .You would def have the faster car!! Thats like comparing apples to oranges:confused:
