I bought a set of Champion ported irons from gnloyalty8777 in January and both heads ended up being cracked. I paid $900 shipped for the heads and was assured that there was no issues with them and they were ready to bolt on. I took them to my engine builder to have them checked out and both heads ended up being cracked! I tried to contact gnloyalty8777 last Saturday when I got word from the builder but its been 7 days with no response. I filed a complaint with paypal but its been over the 45 day limit so there is nothing they can(or at least will) do. I took the heads to the builder as soon as I got them but you know how machine shop time works! I filed a dispute with my credit card company so we will see how that goes. I normally wont buy something from a new member just for this reason but I did this time and I got burned so please learn from my mistake. I posted some pics in the link below last week when I found out about the cracks but I did not post the seller's user name because I hoped the seller would be a stand up guy and work with me on them but it looks like that is not going to be the case!

If Nick Micale says pressure test them and if they don't leak use'em, then that is as good advice as it gets.

Curious why you would pay $900 for a set of heads with supposedly only 6000 miles on and the spend the money to have them done. Aren't they like 1200 new? Good luck with your build- like I said just curious on the thinking.

I don't doubt Nick's opinion but that does not change the fact that the guy sold me some heads as good but they turned out to be cracked. A set of cracked heads even if useable are worth much less than non cracked heads.

So do you think he knew they were cracked? Were they assembled? What would you think he should do for you? Or better yet, do you think he intended to screw you?

A set of Champion irons from Champion is about $1350 shipped to you when set up for a roller cam so I thought I would save about $450 with the used set. Even when I buy brand new heads I have them checked before installing them so I factor that into any head purchase. My buddy bought a brand new set of Brodix heads for his 598BBC and one head dropped a valve in the first 20 minutes of run time and damaged the block and piston. When we took it apart it turned out Brodix used the wrong retainers and any or all of the valves could have done the same thing. People make mistakes and accidents happen so I always have a second set of eyes look them over. I have been into turbo Buicks for 20 years and have built 4 different 10 second cars with ported irons and never had a cracking issue so I felt pretty safe buying them but of course this did not work out well for me!

That's hard to say. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but you just never know. From my perspective the best case would be for him to take the heads back and return my money. If I was in his position and I sold them and even if I did not know they were cracked I would take them back and return the buyer's money. The way I see things like this is that if I sold a defective item for $900--that $900 I got would not change my life, but knowingly screwing over someone that trusted me just might change my life for the worse.

So, you have been in contact with him, or trying to get in contact with him to make it right? Good luck with that, I am going through the same thing with him on another deal on this board. I told him I was not satisfied and he basically told me "sorry about your bad luck". Then, he asked if giving some of my $ back would help, and now he is MIA refusing to answer PM's. Been a few weeks now, I guess it is my turn to post up a negative feedback thread... :(

fair enough, but in the end "right is right and whats wrong is wrong" he should have the option to return a set of heads that wasnt up to snuff..

I suggest you find someone to go to the courthouse and file small claims papers against him. You will have to have someone to act on your behalf but it can be done here. I did the same thing for Precision Turbo when someone in Raleigh bounced a check to them and wouldnt make it right.

He's around Hickory.. we have plenty of members up that way. Hopefully someone will help you out. Id also recommend calling the local police in the town he lives in.

If someone local to the seller would help me out that would be great!
